A walk along Akerselva

In fact, I’ve posted all photos on my facebook and remarked the highlight of this trip. Therefore, I guess I just add some supplements here.

It is my first trip in Oslo. We hadto take subway to a pretty large transfer station “Majorstuen” and then took bus to the assembling point which is called “Sagene” in Norwegian. Taking public transportation is as easy as in Taiwan. You always don’t know which direction the bus in front of you is going to. Thanks to Larry’s compass, we discovered that we took the wrong bus (still). We just rushed to the point and found out that there are not many people waiting. A girl from Finland named “Riikka” told me that she had seen many also took the wrong bus. (Why don’t you let them know?) Then more and more people gathered when our tour guide was ready to give his speech. He is a cute old man named after a Viking chief but have beautiful British accent. He is authorized guide of Oslo, so he is really full of knowledge about Scandinavian history, culture, and geography. It is really impressive. That’s why I think it is always good to have a guide when you are traveling. Anyway, we just started hiking along the river. Oslo is really a peaceful city. People just lay on the grass beside the riverbank and enjoyed the sunlight. I was also immersed in such mood.

The tour ended at the Oslo fjord which is a modern harbor now. We gathered at the white opera house and asked tour guide question in turn. He also explained that why the price level is so astonishing in Norway. It is because they have plenty of oil. Therefore they have high average GDP which lift the price level.

Fell Over from Bicycle

Today is definitely not my day. I just fell over from my bike. This morning I wear my new glasses because I’ve found that it was a little bit difficult to see what professor wrote on the blackboard. Actually, I have hard time keeping up with the “Differential Equation”. It was my first time wearing the glasses in Norway. However, I just didn’t know that it was my last time too.

I just don’t remember why I fell. It seems like the lock is twisted into the front wheel. Since I couldn’t install my good shelf, I have no choice but hanging my lock on my steering panel. I happened to be on down slope. Terrible thing just happened. Everybody just gathered around me and checked if I am OK or not. But I could just remember that my face was bleeding. The blood on my face made my sight from my right eye totally red. I forgot how I get back to my dorm. I just remember that I spent about one hour cleaning my wounds.

Right now I feel my bones are going to fall apart. It is hurtful on my limbs. I guess there will be scars on my face. My watch stops walking. That is really heartbreaking. I think I cannot step outside for few days. That’s really a bad news. Here is the photo taken after I am injured. It is first time that I shoot myself in front of a mirror. (I think it is very stupid.) I protruded my lips not because I want to be cute. It is because my lips are swelling.

Arrive at Oslo, Norway

(It is my first blog. I would like to try to write in English to improve my writing skill. Therefore, if you have hard time understanding what I want to say. Do not worry about that. I think it is my fault. Also, please kindly give me some advises about my writing)

Getting Away from Taiwan
On August 7th (Saturday) evening, I took China Airline (I know it is creepy) to Hong Kong. In fact, no sooner did I overhear the song “向前走” by 林強 than I realize that I am going to leave my home for almost one year. It will be a lie if I said that I just don’t worry about it thoroughly. Actually, when I was ready to pass the Customs of airport, I saw my parents waiting behind. I can’t help but burst out weeping. I just screwed up my courage and turn around to wave to my parents quickly since I know I probably can’t take my step if I stay longer. The waving figures of them will be remembered forever. It is the first time that I leave them for a long period.

Tiring Voyage
I had to transfer twice. One is in Hong Kong and the other is in London Heathrow. If you have taken the British Airway, you will miss the meal served by China Airline (still creepy I know). I had to pinch my nose to swallow them. The scene in Hong Kong Airport was very familiar since I’ve been there when I am still at senior high. There was free Wi-Fi zone for tourists and I just used my laptop to kill some time. The journey to London last about 12 hours and then I arrived London. I’ve dreamed to work in London some day but it is obvious that the air condition is terrible in London. The Heathrow airport is very huge and brand-new, but it is not possible for me to shop there. The price is totally different from Hong Kong.

Oslo
Looking down from airplane, I saw that the city is surrounded by numerous coniferous trees. That scene could only be imagined from my high school Geology textbook. The weather is cold and humid. I was regretful for wearing only T-shirt and shorts. However, I have to say that this country is astonishingly beautiful. All you can see is all green. The temperature is average 15 centigrade degree in summer, very comfortable compared to that of Taiwan. The floor board of the airport is made by wood. The atmosphere is really relaxing (so as their efficiency). Alright! It is my home for the next one year.
